Duties

• Providing high-quality, person-centred nursing care within an orthopaedic setting
• Assessing, monitoring and reviewing patients' health needs
• Providing pre-operative and post-operative nursing care to orthopaedic patients
• Carrying out clinical observations and recording patient information accurately
• Administering medications and pain relief safely and effectively
• Monitoring patients following orthopaedic procedures and surgeries
• Providing wound care, dressing changes and post-operative wound management
• Carrying out neurovascular observations and identifying potential complications
• Assisting patients with mobility, rehabilitation and recovery
• Supporting patients with casts, splints and other orthopaedic supports as required
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date nursing documentation
• Working collaboratively with orthopaedic consultants, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals
• Supporting patients and their families with care, communication and discharge planning
• Maintaining a safe, clean and professional clinical environment
• Adhering to NMBI standards, policies and procedures at all times

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in General Nursing and Active Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
• Minimum 6 months post-registration nursing experience
• Previous experience in an orthopaedic nursing setting desirable
• Experience in pre-operative and post-operative care, wound management and neurovascular observations desirable
• Excellent clinical and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Strong understanding of patient safety, confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Compassionate and person-centred approach to nursing care
• Eligible to work in Ireland
• Registered with Clarity Locums (or willing to register)
