Ireland boasts a wealth of beautiful and historic places to explore, each with its unique charm and character. For healthcare professionals looking to make the move over to this beautiful country, you may be wondering how you can fill your time when not working. The answer? So many things! Coming up with a shortlist of the best places to visit in Ireland isn’t as easy as you might think, but we have highlighted a few of the best places to explore!

Dublin

As the capital city of Ireland, Dublin is a vibrant and cosmopolitan hub of culture and history. From the Guinness Storehouse, where you can learn about the famous Irish beer and enjoy a pint with a view, to Trinity College, home to the famous Book of Kells, a beautifully illuminated manuscript dating back to the ninth century, there is no shortage of attractions in this city.

There are also some great hikes you can try, such as Howth Cliff Walk or Killiney Hill.

Wicklow Mountains National Park

There are plenty of things to do in the Wicklow Mountains, from visiting the historic ruins, hiking, rock climbing and mountain bike riding to taking a scenic drive through the national park.

If you’re into hiking, Glendalough is definitely a great place to put on your list! There are a number of trails you can choose from (easy to moderate). Some of the best trails you can try are Poulanass, St Kevin's Cell, and Spinc.

A day spent driving the Ring of Kerry route is arguably one of the best things to do in Kerry. Over the course of the drive you’ll pass through quite a few natural attractions with some magnificent scenery, including Torc Waterfall, Ladies View, Moll’s Gap, Derrynane Beach and Kerry Cliffs.

The Dingle Peninsula

Dingle Peninsula is definitely worth adding to your list as it combines charming towns and villages, spectacular scenery and Irish history into one relatively small area. It’s an easy trip by car or a more demanding bike ride if you want to challenge yourself!

Here are some of the best spots on the Dingle Peninsula - Connor Pass, Dingle Town, Slea Head Drive and Dunquin Pier.

The amazing Cliffs of Moher are one of Ireland’s top travel destinations with millions of tourists coming here each and every year.

The Cliffs of Moher range in height from 390 feet to 702 feet tall, and are home to over 30,000 birds, including colonies of Atlantic Puffin that usually make an appearance in late March.

The Connemara region in Galway offers plenty of places to see and things to do!

Dog’s Bay - This magnificent horseshoe-shaped bay has more than 1.5km of white sand beach and crystal-clear water.
